Designing the digital organization

…that “actor-oriented” principles are at the heart of designing digital organizations and that, if properly applied, can result in a workplace where organization members are highly engaged and productive.

The actor-oriented architecture is composed of three elements: (1) actors who have the capabilities and values to self-organize; (2) commons where the actors accumulate and share resources; and (3) protocolsprocesses, and infrastructures that enable multi-actor collaboration 

As knowledge-heavy organizations, digital teams benefit extensively from empowering people. Essentially, the less top-heavy organizations are, the more the teams in these organizations benefit.

Selfless teammate, ‘extraordinary human’ Tim Wakefield passes away

There aren’t many knuckleball pitchers, but when one establishes himself they are someone that every baseball fan knows. For nearly 20 years, Tim Wakefield was the best knuckleball pitcher in baseball. He ranks 7th all-time in Wins for a knuckleball pitcher and while his on-the-field exploits are absolutely a part of this obituary, it’s the pieces of his off-the-field story that stand out.

Threads blocks searches related to covid and vaccines as cases rise

I am still figuring out my current thoughts on social media, but this isn’t making me want to use Threads or any Meta app. By the way “14 words” isn’t a band search.

NASA Publishes Beta Flagship, Science Websites as Improvements Continue

NASA has relaunched and now they are on WordPress. Matt Mullenweg said “Houston, we have a solution“. I think the amount of praise the team behind this deserves is astronomical.
