What I Learned from DAPL Protestors as a Woman of Color

It is in the interest of white supremacy to divide the issues which affect communities of color because it disperses our attention from the root cause of racism and more specifically, environmental racism.

Lara Witt wrote an excellent essay called What I Learned from DAPL Protestors as a Woman of Color that explores environmental racism and how DAPL is an example of it. Environmental racism is the practice of pushing environmental damage upon the less powerful. All the NIMBY folks practice it, many without realizing it.

Teen Vogue has been doing some excellent journalism lately. I highly recommend reading them and subscribing if you haven’t already.
